El técnico del Aston Villa fue sincero, asegurando que al llegar, el brasileño no venía cómodo de su paso por Barcelona.
El fichaje de Philippe Coutinho en el Aston Villa fue un tanque de oxígeno para el atacante, luego de su fracaso en LaLiga.
A pesar de que el brasileño va poco a poco retomando nivel y mostrando buenas cosas en la Premier League, Gerrard recalca que el jugador ocupa confianza para que vuelva a aquellos años dorados que se le vieron en el Liverpool.
«Decidimos ficharlo, se podía ver que Coutinho no era feliz en Barcelona. Con la edad y el talento que tiene, confío plenamente en él. Los números dicen que no está a su mejor nivel, pero le daremos todo el apoyo que necesite».
